    The 123BMW-4-R-V is designed for M10 engines, in the BMW :

    – 1600, 1602, 1602Ti
    – 1800, 1800Ti, 1802
    – 2000, 2000Ti, 2000Tii
    – 2002, 2002Ti, 2002Tii, 2002Turbo
    – 316, 318, 518, 320, 520 (before 1978!!)

    Installation Manual

    The 123\BMW-4-R-V is designed for M10 engines, in the BMW :

    – 1600, 1602, 1602Ti
    – 1800, 1800Ti, 1802
    – 2000, 2000Ti, 2000Tii
    – 2002, 2002Ti, 2002Tii, 2002Turbo
    – 316, 318, 518, 320, 520 (before 1978!!)

    The gear on the BMW 4-R-(V) causes the ignition to turn Clockwise.
    If you have a newer type M10 engine (e.g. in the BMW E21 after 1978) a gear that turns Counter-Clockwise (CCW) is needed, as well as a distributor to which it fits.
    You need to transfer this gear from the old ignition.

    The 123\Switch units are easy to install. Preprogrammed original manufacturer ignition curves.
    By selecting 1 of 16 available advance curves, this electronic distributor is suitable for many engines
    Please take a look in the advance curve table of the specific unit for available advance curves.

    BMW-4-R-V    = BMW stands for the 123ignition type  
    BMW-4-R-V    = 4 stands for the number of cylinders 
    BMW-4-R–V    = R stands for straight distributor cap 
    BMW-4-R-V    = V stands for vacuum advance

      This was so simple to install I thought I just got luck so I took it out and reinstalled it again and it was bang on. Excellent upgrade for your older vehicle. I love it.

      I installed this along with a Weber carburetor. Between them they transformed the vehicle from anemic to strong. Highly recommended

      Everything that this product claims, it delivers. Easier starts, smoother running, better high rpm ability (doesnt break-up like points at high rpm). The only reason it didnt get 5 stars is because Ive only had it a short time and I dont know how reliable it will be. I will come back in a few years and report on that aspect!

      I drove a few km so far, but since it was installed in my '73 BMW 2002, the engine runs smoother and cold starts are easier.

      Installed and timed the switch version in my '75 BMW 2002 the other day replacing a fairly new IE full centrifugal advance unit that was in the car when purchased a few months ago. I'm currently evaluating advance curve 2 and notice the motor seems to run and accelerate better. As time allows I will try different advance curves but would like to see plots of the16 different advance curves. More information on these curves would be very helpful. Instructions were adequate to install the unit. The rotor seems to not fit as positively as I would have hoped but so far it has not been a problem. No oil leaks using the single rubber "O" ring seal included but do wonder if the second indent on the shaft higher up may also be used as a second O ring location for insurance.
